NADRA UNDER CONTROL OF A SERVING GENERAL
With the passage of each and every day, Army is tightening his grip on both military and civilian institutions. In an unprecedented move a serving Lt. Gen from infantry has been appointed as Chairman NADRA.
Lt. General Muhammad Munir Afsar who has recently been given charge of Chairman NADRA belongs to Punjab Regiment of Infantry and currently holds the post of Inspector General Communication & Information Technology GHQ and one of the Principal Staff officers of Army Chief. He has wide range of experience in IT related development and management both within Pak Army as DG Command, Control, Communication, Computers & Intelligence (C4I) and also abroad while working with UN as Military Geographic Information Officer. He has done MS in GIS & Remote sensing and currently pursuing Ph.D in Remote Sensing from NUST.
Earlier, one year
extensions have been given to two of the Lt. Generals who are considered close to
Army Chief. One is DG ISI Lt. Gen Nadeem Anjum while the other is Lt. Gen.
Muhammad Saeed who is currently holding the key position of Chief of General
Staff. Saeed belongs to OTS group same as of Gen Asim Munir. Saeed has also
served as Corps Commander Lahore.
Interesting times seems ahead as more unorthodox decisions are on the cards.
